winecritic.jpgHave you ever found yourself at a loss for words to describe the wine in your glass? There is both science and technique involved in tasting and describing what you taste.

Come learn how to do both! Your newly acquired skills could serve you well!

The French Wine Society is redesigning its website and incorporating a blog into the layout. This blog will focus on and discuss the wines that are tasted at our events.

Wine enthusiasts participating in this seminar could qualify to become an official FWS blogger. Official bloggers will be alternatively invited to attend FWS functions for calendar year 2009 at no cost in exchange for the wine descriptions they place on our blog after each event.

This three-hour seminar will be divided into three segments:

Part 1: “How to Taste and Evaluate Wine”
Jay Youmans, M.W. will guide participants through a tutored tasting with a focus on the mechanics of how to analytically taste and evaluate wine.

Part 2: “How to Write about Wine”
Ben Giliberti, former Washington Post wine columnist, will assist participants in putting their sensory impressions to paper in cogent, meaningful text.

Part 3: “The Practical”
Using freshly-honed analytical skills, participants will be asked to taste, evaluate and write about two French wines; one white, one red. Here’s your chance to put pen and (your) personality to paper! Best entries will be invited to blog for FWS!
